TOPIC: THE GIFT OF THE CROSS – 2
TEXT: ROMANS 5:1-6
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Key Verse: “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:2).
MESSAGE:
The previous gifts that the cross offers to humankind are uncountable. Only those who are wise will benefit from them. When gifts are offered, it must also be received. As you surrender your heart to Jesus today, you have the privilege of enjoying another benefit that comes through the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross – Access To God.
The sacrificial system of the Old Testament did not provide direct access to God. The tabernacle with all its ceremonies did not allow the people to get near the symbol of God’s presence. No ordinary man could go into the holy of holies. Only the High Priest could go in, and it was just once in a year.
Glory be to God that when Jesus died on the cross, the veil (curtain) that separated man from God was torn into two from top to bottom. This shows that through the death of Christ, the curtain was removed, and the way into the most holy place (God’s presence) was opened for all who believe in Christ.
PpppWherever you are at this present moment, God is with you there. You can talk to Him, hear Him speak to you through His word, receive answers to your prayers and help in time of need. You must appreciate this privilege of access to God, and daily commune with Him.
Prayer: I thank You Lord for providing me access to Your presence.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
