TOPIC: THE GREAT PUBLISHERS
TEXT: PSALM 68:7-11
8The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.
10Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.
11The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
MEMORY VERSE: “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it” (PSALM 68:11).
MESSAGE:
A Publisher publishes books, newspapers or magazines. The word ‘publishing’ is synonymous to the word ‘broadcasting’. The good news has been given by the Lord Jesus Christ to believers to publish His love to all. God is not willing that anyone should perish. So, He gave His life-changing word for the transformation of souls.
Carly F. H. Henry says “The gospel can only be good news if it gets there on time.” Yes, the good news cannot fulfill its purpose if it is published late. We must preach with a sense of urgency just as “Philip ran” and preached Jesus unto the Ethiopian Eunuch (Matthew 9:36; Acts 8:30, 35).
Child of God, you may not have received a call to become a preacher or a missionary, but every believer is a preacher and missionary. We all have the word, and wherever we are – home country or foreign country, we must preach. A foreign missionary may not have as much preaching opportunities as a student with many students around him or her. At every opportunity, publish the word.
QUOTE: Preach with a sense of urgency.
CHALLENGE: Proclaim the God you claim to know and His saving power.
PRAYER: Oh God, give me souls as I publish Your word to sinners.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
