Topic: The Hand Of The Diligent

Text: Proverbs 24:30-34

30I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

32Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

33Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Key Verse: “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute” (Proverbs 12:24).

Message

According to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the heights great men attain are not a sudden flight, but through toiling upwards in the night while their companions are sleeping.  Little wonder Solomon wrote, ” Seest thou a man diligent in his business, he shall stand before kings, he shall not stand before mean men” (Proverbs 22:28).  The result of laziness is abject poverty, unfulfilled dreams, low moral integrity, mental stagnation, regret and sorrow. Just as laziness brings pains, diligence on the other hand brings gains.  Many have sold themselves to the devil to be used as internet fraudsters because of laziness and quest for quick wealth.

A diligent youth puts his best into anything he or she does, paying attention to details with the sole purpose of attaining excellence. Diligence promotes to leadership among peers, just as it was with Daniel, David, Deborah, Esther, etc. Faithfulness and diligence in spiritual, academic, vocational, and other relevant matters are required in every given task. Don’t despise the responsibilities given to you irrespective of how little they might seem, and the Lord will exalt you in due season.

Quote: Diligence promotes to leadership

Challenge: Be diligent, the results are marvelous.

Prayer for today: Oh Lord, please teach my hands to toil diligently.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
