DCLM Higher Everyday 6 September 2024 — The Judgment Seat
DCLM Higher Everyday 6 September 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Judgment Seat
Topic: The Judgment Seat
Text: 2 Corinthians 5:10-13
10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
12For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
13For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
Key Verse: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (Corinthians 5:10).
Message
In our society there are many youths that are consumed by the burning desire for temporary pleasures that can damn the soul, They do not think about the implications of their actions which have future and eternal consequences. Recounting past mistakes, Amanda Blake said: “I believe that I would not have smoked had I seen a label on a cigarette package or in a cigarette add that said ‘Warning: Cigarette smoking may cause death from heart disease, cancer or emphysema.’” This submission is coming from someone who regretted smoking because she was ignorant of its consequences on the human health. Dear youth you cannot claim you have not heard about the danger of sin today because the gospel is being preached everywhere.
Remember that everyone would appear before the judgment seat of God in due time like Lazarus and the rich man did. The rich man lived in sin and wickedness and received eternal damnation as his reward, while Lazarus was granted a comfortable place at Abraham’s bosom. Dear youth prepare to meet the Lord at judgment seat with clean hands and hearts.
Quote: Prepare to meet the Lord
Challenge: Escape hell through salvation in Christ.
Prayer for today: Father, help me to live a worthy life, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
