DCLM Sincere Milk 30 November 2022 — The Mediator

DCLM Sincere Milk 30 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Mediator

TOPIC: THE MEDIATOR

TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-6

1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Key Verse: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).

MESSAGE:

A mediator is one who acts as an intermediary between opposing sides in order to bring about a settlement. A mediator strives to settle a disagreement or quarrel between two parties with the goal of making enemies become friends.

There is only one Mediator between mankind and God, and His Name is Jesus Christ. He came to the world because we were separated from God as a result of sin. God hates sin, and that is why it stands between us and Him.

Nothing we could do on our own that would be sufficient to mediate between us and God. No amount of good works can make us righteous enough to stand before a holy God. Without a Mediator, we were destined to spend eternity in hell.

Yet, there is hope! Jesus represents those who have placed their trust in Him before God’s throne of grace. He mediates for us as much as a defense attorney (lawyer) mediates for his clients, telling the judge, “Your honour, my client is innocent of all charges against Him.”

That is true for us also. Someday we will face God, but as totally forgiven sinners because of Jesus’ death on our behalf. Jesus, our defense Attorney and Mediator took the penalty for us. On the cross, Jesus exchanged our sin for His righteousness. Have you accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord? He is pleading with you to come to Him now.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I accept You as my personal Saviour and Lord.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
