DCLM Sincere Milk 28 January 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — “The Noise Of War”
Topic: “The Noise Of War”
Text: Exodus 32:11-19
11And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
14And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
15And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
16And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.
17And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
18And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
19And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
Key Verse: “And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.” Exodus 32:17
Message
The children of Israel were waiting for Moses who went to mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments from the Lord. While waiting, they asked Aaron to make a golden image for them to worship because they were not sure if Moses would return from the mount. Moses and Joshua not knowing what was going on in the camp, heard the noise of the people and Joshua said unto Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.” The noise of war here represents disobedience and departure from God’s righteous standard. It was a show of shame on the part of Aaron their leader and the whole nation of Israel.
It is often said that actions have consequences. The action of the children of Israel led to their destruction. They forsook God and served idols because their leader Moses was not around. The lesson here for you is that don’t forsake God even when your parents or teachers are not there to correct you. Know that God is watching you and you will give account of your actions to Him someday. Fear God and obey His word.

Prayer for today: Help me Lord, never to forsake You no matter the circumstance.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
