TOPIC: THE PROMISED PROSPERITY

BIBLE TEXT: 3 JOHN 1:1-4

1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.

2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

MEMORY VERSE: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 JOHN 1:2).

MESSAGE:

We live in a world where people make promises to others. While some of such promises are fulfilled, many are not, due to the depraved nature of man. God is faithful to His promises, for, “God is not a man, that he should lie;… hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19).

In our text, we see God’s promise of prosperity to Gaius, who walked in the truth. This same promise is for believers, including youths, who walk in the truth of God’s Word. If you are walking in the truth, God’s promised prosperity is yours.

God’s promised prosperity is holistic. It is not God’s will that His children should live in sickness, penury, oppression, failure or want. To benefit from the promised prosperity, you must daily live and walk in the truth. If you have not given your life to Christ, do so now by confessing and forsaking your sins. Surrender totally to God, live for Him, and you will enjoy all-round prosperity.

QUOTE: God’s promised prosperity is holistic.

CHALLENGE: God is faithful to His promises.

PRAYER: Help me Lord, to trust You in all areas of my life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
