DCLM Higher Everyday  11 October 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Role Of The Girl-Child

Topic: The Role Of The Girl-Child

Bible Reading: Psalm 144:11-15 (KJV)

11Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:

12That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:

13That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:

14That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

15Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

KEY VERSE: “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace” (Psalm 144:12).

Message

“The courage, hope and determination of girls are a force to be reckoned with. It is time for the world to step up and help transform their vision and aspirations into reality,” opines António Guterres. Girls are a unique creation of God. Our memory verse refers to them “as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace.” Corner stones are needed to make a building strong to avoid collapse. Without the inputs of girls, the world will be like a building without corner stones, and it is bound to collapse.

On this special day to reflect on the uniqueness of the girl-child, it is crucial to note that we are to collectively stamp out anti-girl-child or gendered behaviour that tend to promote hate and discrimination against girls. Girls are also enjoined to contribute to the growth of humanity just Ada Luz used music to share message of peace and advocacy for a united future in Columbia and Julieta who mediated to resolve community disputes, promoted peace and supported children with conflict issues.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, I pray for all girls to attain their full potentials.

CHALLENGE

Stop the discrimination against the girl-child!

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
