TOPIC: The Scriptures Reveal Jesus.

Text — John 5:30-40

30I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

31If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

32There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

33Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

34But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

35He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

36But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

40And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Key Verse: “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39).

Message

Ungodly youngsters are easily deceived. They believe everything they hear, and accept whatever anybody tells them. They do not search out facts and seek to verify whether those things are true. They readily fall for fraudsters and human wolves, whose only goal is to lure them into errors. Some belong to Christian assemblies but they never pay attention to practices of scriptural truths.

The Holy Bible is the only source of truth about the origin of man, his present and future. Everyone who desires to know who Jesus is must search the scriptures for prophecies about His mission on earth. As the Jews doubted and sought to kill Him, He told them to search the written prophecies of Moses and the prophets.

He further referred to John the Baptist who was a burning and shining light in the darkness of Jewish corrupt traditions. John had publicly proclaimed that Jesus, the Messiah, would be greater than he. In their refusal to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, they denied what John preached. Jesus wants to be your Saviour and Friend. Receive Him.

Quote: Receive Him

Challenge: Some Greeks desired to see Jesus; how about you?

Prayer for today: Lord, open my eyes to know you more.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
