1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

KEY VERSE: “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
Message
The temptation of Jesus is not a parable, neither is it just a story in the Bible. It was a real-life experience recorded for us to read and understand that Jesus lived in human form. Jesus Christ was born to save sinners from their sins and reconcile them back to God after the fall of man in the garden of Eden. Satan, who caused the fall of man was not happy about it. He wanted to stop Jesus by bringing temptations His way.
Being tempted is not a sin but falling into the temptation makes someone to become an enemy of God. Satan knew that Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights and He was hungry (this shows the human side of Jesus). He tempted Jesus with what He needed most at that particular time (food). That is what Satan does. He looks for a time when you have a particular need and brings an ungodly suggestion to you to meet that need. Jesus did not fall into the temptation because He had the Spirit of God in Him. He also knew the word of God and He used it against Satan.
The word of God is the believer’s armour against the wiles of Satan. If Jesus yielded to that temptation, the whole of mankind would have been doomed forever. As a friend of Jesus, walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Also keep the word of God in your heart so that you can use it when there is need for it. Choose to obey God rather than Satan and God will help you to be victorious over the enemy.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, help me to put my need for spiritual food far above my need for physical food
FURTHER READING
Deuteronomy 8:3
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
