DCLM Higher Everyday 13 March 2024 — The Time And Your Actions
Topic: The Time And Your Actions
Text: Romans 13:10-14
10Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
12The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Key Verse: “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (Romans 13:11).
Message
It is said that, “Proper preparation prevents poor performance.” Many students know this, yet would not study but wait to cheat in exams. A few years ago a law student of Malaga University, Spain, etched tiny notes of a whole syllabus across the entire circumference of eleven blue pens to cheat in an examination. He was caught and the pens confiscated. Several people said that if the student was going to go through this much effort, he might as well have just studied. That is how many careless youths waste their time that could have served a better purpose.
Our lesson today reminds believers of God’s timetable. Each day brings us closer to the time of Christ’s return to judge the world. The signs of the last days are everywhere. If you have been in Christ do not relax but stay steadfast serving the Lord because you are nearer the end than when you first believed. If you are not yet born again, then repent because the judgment day will soon dawn and delay is dangerous. The saints, like successful diligent students, will rejoice at last.
Quote: Do not relax but stay steadfast
Challenge: Watch and pray, little Children.
Prayer for today: My God, keep me holy and watching in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
