DCLM Daily Manna 14 September 2023 — The Truly Wise People

DCLM Daily Manna 14 September 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Truly Wise People

Topic: The Truly Wise People

Text: Daniel 12:1-4

1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Key Verse: “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).

Message

The Bible is replete with the prophecies of the end-time. Every man shall face judgment according to their deeds when our Lord shall come again. The foolish, as it is written, will languish eternally in the bottomless abyss. Likewise, the wise will spend their eternity at the bosom of the Lord.

Our text clearly lends credence to the coming of the Lord, an event all believers are expecting. In this respect, Daniel prophesied “a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation…” When the perilous time shall come, all believers, whose names are found in the Book of Life, shall be delivered from eternal destruction. Also, the dead shall rise from the dust of the earth and face the verdict. Some will rise to everlasting life while others will rise to everlasting damnation. He also predicted the glorious end of the wise and the soul-winners at the end of time. The former shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and the latter as the stars.

The Lord is coming again. This time, He is coming to judge the foolish and reward the wise. The foolish are those who despise the precepts of God. They are filled with all adultery, covetousness, deceit, envy, fornication, idolatry, maliciousness, murder, unrighteousness as well as wickedness (Romans 1:29-31). They shall be rejected when the Lord shall appear but the wise are the children of God who treasure and practise righteousness daily according to His divine purpose. They are also obedient to the heavenly vision. They are destined for eternal glory and life at the coming of the Lord.

Examine yourself today. Are you a fool or a child of destiny who lives daily according to the wisdom of God’s words? Your answer to this question will determine your eternal destination – heaven or hell. If you are still living a sinful life, be wise and come to the Saviour today.

Thought for the day

The biggest fool is the sinner who thinks himself wise.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
