DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 19 May 2022 — The wedding garment
DCLM Higher Everyday 19 May 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The wedding garment
TOPIC: THE WEDDING GARMENT
TEXT: MATTHEW 22:9-14
9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
MEMORY VERSE: “And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless” (MATTHEW 22:12).
MESSAGE:
The host of every ceremony determines his or her dress code. Some programs permit guests by invitation cards, virtual invite number and pass code; while others add dress code, class distinction or list of name calls at the gate.
Ideally, none is expected to join without keeping the entry conditions. Going contrary to these conditions could disfigure the beauty of the occasion. Therefore, strict observance is required.
God made the beautiful Garden of Eden and gave the planets a perfect operational order. Any distortion will bring disaster. The Bible teaches that Christian dressing must portray the holiness of God, but many places of worship today are filled with seductive and transparent clothes.
The fellowship with Jesus Christ is the import of our text. God hates insubordination, a trait that cast Satan out of heaven. When in fellowship with God, you must put on a holy heart, godly disposition and inward and outward holiness that honours God. Careless and obstinate persons shall be shown their doom in eternal torment of fire. No one can force himself into God’s kingdom.
QUOTE: God hates insubordination.
CHALLENGE: Will you be speechless and condemned at last?
PRAYER: Lord, I don’t want to be rejected and cast to hellfire.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
