DCLM Higher Everyday 7 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Wind And His Word
Topic: The Wind And His Word
Text: Mark 4:35-41
35And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Key Verse: “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39).
Message
Today’s reflection encapsulates the essence of navigating life’s challenges with unwavering faith, as depicted in the encounter between Jesus and his disciples amidst a raging storm. As they embarked on their journey across the sea, a tempestuous storm arose, threatening their safety. Yet, amidst the chaos, Jesus remained steadfast, affirming their destined arrival on the other side. His words echoed with assurance and authority, undeterred by the storm’s fury.

As young Christians, our focus must remain steadfast on Christ, rather than succumbing to the daunting waves of adversity. Firmly rooted in faith, we can weather any storm. Let us immerse ourselves in His word, allowing it to fortify our hearts and embolden our spirits. The WIND confronting you is anything that comes to Weaken your faith, Indict (accuse) you, Nullify or make you Doubt God’s promises but you must not allow the WIND of life to take charge. Rather rely on the WORD –the Willingness of God, the Opportunity of being a child of God, and the Riches of God’s grace, to Draw from the well of His unfailing promises to triumph.
Quote: Rely on the Word
Challenge: Obedience to God’s word is the pathway.
Prayer for today: Father, calm every ranging storm in my life in Jesus name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
