DCLM Sincere Milk 8 June 2025 — The Yellow Card

DCLM Sincere Milk 8 June 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Yellow Card

Topic: The Yellow Card

Text: Ezekiel 3:17-19

17Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

18When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

19Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Key Verse: “Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel:therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.”Ezekiel 3:17

The referee in a football match shows a yellow card to indicate a player or a team official has been officially cautioned. The referee notes the offender’s details, time, and the nature of the foul committed in a small notebook which is also called a booking. In essence, a yellow card is given as a caution or warning. It provides players receiving them another chance to stay on the field for the remainder of the game.

God was simply telling prophet Ezekiel to give the people a yellow card like the referee in a football match. A warning is not a condemnation but to tell you of the danger that lies that and that you should avoid them. The book of Ezekiel chapter 3 has a kind of yellow card for the sinner and the believer who refuses to preach to the sinner.

There is danger of hell fire waiting for the sinners and the disobedient. As a friend of Jesus, you have a duty as a watchman to go and warn them of the danger of remaining in their sins. You must have compassion for the sinner so that they will not die in their sins. No matter how far they have gone, Jesus is still ready to forgive them.

PRAYER: Help me Lord, to warn those around me of the danger of hell fire.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
