TOPIC: THIS FRUIT CANNOT BE FAKED

TEXT: GALATIANS 5:22-26

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

KEY VERSE: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (GALATIANS 5:22-23).

MESSAGE:

According to Dallas Willard, “The fruit of the Spirit … gives a sure sign of transformed character. When our deepest attitudes and dispositions are those of Jesus, it is because we have learned to let the Spirit foster his life in us.” People are easily identified by their character, groups and beliefs. A believer’s identity is in Christ and his or her life is led by the Spirit, not controlled by the flesh. Believers were first called Christians in Antioch because they behaved like Christ.

Only saved people can manifest the fruit of the Spirit. It cannot be faked. The saved are able to love selflessly, be meek, gentle and good, endure, and have peace and joy in conflict times. The manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit differentiates a believer from the world. To have the nine components of the fruit of the Spirit, you must invite Jesus into your life. You must acknowledge your sins, confess and forsake them, ask God for forgiveness, and believe in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.

QUOTE: Manifest the fruit of the Spirit

CHALLENGE: The fruit proves your Christian profession.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: O God, make me your dwelling place.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
