DCLM Higher Everyday 8 October 2022 — Touched by others’ troubles

DCLM Higher Everyday 8 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Touched by others’ troubles

TOPIC: TOUCHED BY OTHERS’ TROUBLES

BIBLE TEXT: HEBREWS 4:14-16

14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

MEMORY VERSE: “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (HEBREWS 4:15).

MESSAGE:

The story of the man sitting by the pool of Bethesda shows the love of the Saviour. The man had been paralyzed for thirty-eight years, and had no one to carry him into the pool for a miraculous healing. Though he did not know Jesus as a Healer and was complaining of his predicament, Jesus still healed him.

Jesus is always moved by human sufferings – He made the lame to walk, the dumb and deaf to speak and hear. When lepers and the blind cried unto Him, He healed them. He also wept at the grave of Lazarus in empathy for the grief of his bereaved sisters and raised him back to life. Indeed, He came to destroy the works of the devil. The woman caught in the act of adultery was forgiven her sins. Jesus is always moved by our troubles. Do you have any trouble? It might be sickness, sin, disease or financial lack. Tell it to Jesus, He cares. You might even have loved ones that are troubled. You can intercede for them, as there is no distance with God.

QUOTE: Tell it to Jesus, He cares.

CHALLENGE: Do not complain, take your troubles to Christ.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, please heal the sick in the hospitals.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
