TOPIC: TRAIN FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

TEXT:2 TIMOTHY 2:15-18

15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

MEMORY VERSE: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 TIMOTHY 2:15).

MESSAGE:

The seed and labor of today prepare you and your future. The people you count as excellent today got there through hard work. The challenge of lazy youths is failure to act on time to improve their education through diligent study. They waste precious time.

Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook fame had a private tutor in addition to his school tutors. David used his leisure time while caring for his father’s sheep to train on his musical instrument. He was first introduced to King Saul for his musical skills. A diligent study for good grades prevents later pains of failure.

As a student or trainee, be very observant anywhere you may be. Take advantage of open doors. If you don’t have the resources to acquire skills, look out for people of goodwill – your neighbors and relatives with computer, tailoring, and other skills – are enough assets you can tap from.

Do not study only to pass the immediate examination but study to master the subjects. Also, develop the right attitude towards daily devotional books. They are meant for your personal development.

QUOTE: Take advantage of open doors.

CHALLENGE: Do you have any plan for your future?

PRAYER: Lord, let every challenge I face today equip me for the future.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
