DCLM Higher Everyday 20 May 2023 — Trust In Jehovah

DCLM Higher Everyday 20 May 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Trust In Jehovah

Topic: Trust In Jehovah

Text — Isaiah 26:1-5

1In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

2Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

5For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.

Key Verse: Trust ye in the Lord for ever. For in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.” (Isaiah 26:4).

Message

Charles Blondin, a tight rope walker, carried his manager Harry Colcord on his back across the Niagara fall. Knowing fully well that the slightest mistake would plunge both of them into death,  Harry still entrusted his life into Blondin’s hand and agreed to go along with him.  Blondin told his manager “Look up, Harry… you are no longer Colcord, you are Blondin. Until I clear this place be a part of me, mind, body, and soul. If I sway, sway with me. Do not attempt to do any balancing yourself. If you do, we will both go to our death.” Both of them returned safely.

Colcord trusted Blondin and undertook such a hazardous trip. Believers can absolutely trust the keeping power of the Lord in this wicked world.  Although we are surrounded by many dangers, our God is able and faithful to keep and sustain us. He will take us to the heavenly shore as we yield ourselves to Him. God is able “To keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.”

Quote: Our God is able

Challenge: God is able to keep whatever is entrusted in His hand.

Prayer for today: Great Jehovah, let my trust in you be constant.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
