Topic: Victory Over Temptation
Text: James 1:12-15
12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Key Verse: “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” James 1:12
Message
Temptation is not sin, but yielding to it is what makes the person a sinner. Jesus was tempted while on earth, yet He did not yield. The world in which we live is lined up with all forms of things that Satan uses to tempt children of God. When you are on God’s side, you are on the winning side! The devil can never ever win against God. Jesus conquered the devil once and for all, when He died on the cross for all our sins and all the wrong things we have done. But that doesn’t mean that our daily struggle against sin is over. It is up to you to strive for victory over temptations in your life. Here are few things to help you be a winner:

Prayer for today: Lord, please deliver me from every temptation to sin against You.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
