DCLM Sincere Milk 12 May 2026 — Walk To Please God

DCLM Sincere Milk  12 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi —Walk To Please God

Topic: Walk To Please God

Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7 (KJV)

1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

MEMORY VERSE: “Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.” 1 Thessalonians 4:1

Message

We walk or take short steps when we want to go from place to place. Where we walk to and what we do there is important to God. The word “Walk” has different meanings, for example: moving from place to place, to carry out an action, to make progress, to change position, to move and not sit idle. The word describes our way of life. To walk to please God means to live in obedience to God’s instructions and to have friendship with Him. When we believe the gospel and its promises and depend on Jesus for our salvation, we start to walk with or do the will of God.

Paul the Apostle, in his letter to the Thessalonians instructed all Christians to obey the Word of God that they have been taught; on repentance, salvation, holiness, and turning away from the worship of idols. Paul also warned us not to befriend or copy the bad things the ungodly people were doing. We must now obey all the instructions that God has given to us.

There are people all around asking for your friendship. They want you to walk with or behave like them: go to where they go, talk, dance and play the way they do. They want you to imitate their ungodly ways. You must not walk with them. As you have been taught by your godly parents and teachers at home and in the Church, you must obey the godly instructions you have received. Everywhere you go make up your mind to obey Jesus and please Him in all you do. That is how to walk with God.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, give me the grace to walk with You and obey You in all the things that I do.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
