DCLM Higher Everyday 3 August 2023 — Way To Divine Wisdom
DCLM Higher Everyday 3 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Way To Divine Wisdom
Topic: Way To Divine Wisdom
Text: James 1:5-8
6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Key Verse: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).
Message
Apostle James in our Bible text addressed Christian believers on divine wisdom. He was against the wisdom that was, earthly, sensual, and devilish which produces confusion and every evil work. That was the kind of wisdom that Amnon used to commit immorality with Tamar. However, the divine wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle, merciful, impartial and without hypocrisy (See James 3:14-17).
The Cambridge English dictionary defines wisdom as, “The ability to use your knowledge and experience to make good decisions and judgement.” Divine wisdom is from God and it is useful in handling life’s issues. The beginning of divine wisdom is to have a life of faith in Christ Jesus through salvation from sin. Then come to God in faith and ask for divine wisdom to succeed in all areas of your life, including education and career, and He will grant your request. You must however study and meditate on the Word of God so that your faith does not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God (1Corinthians 2:5).
Quote: Your path to wisdom is God’s Word.
Challenge: Obey Divine instructions.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, you are Wisdom personified, have your way in me.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
