TOPIC: WHAT WILL JUDGE MEN AT LAST
TEXT: JOHN 12:44-50.
44Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
45And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
46I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
49For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
MEMORY VERSE: “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (JOHN 12:48).
MESSAGE:
A writer opined that, “The judiciary is said to be the last hope of the common man. The citizens look forward to having justice when they seek legal remedy for a special set of circumstances. But men are fallible and that is why we have so many miscarriages of justice. It is not so with God who judges in righteousness and truth.” God is Omniscient. No one escapes His all-seeing eyes. Our text reminds us of the final judgement reserved for those who reject Christ, His spoken word, and His offer of free salvation.
Do you believe in Christ and His Word? If you don’t, knowing Christ should be your priority. All unrepentant souls will be judged at last for rejecting Christ and His spoken word. To escape this judgment, confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Be a doer of the word, apply it in your words and actions wherever you go and heaven will be your eternal home.
QUOTE: Repent and escape the judgment of God.
CHALLENGE: Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Help me Lord to live for Christ and obey His Word.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
