TOPIC: WHAT YOU HIDE IN YOUR HEART
TEXT: MARK 7:17-23
18And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
MEMORY VERSE: “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness” (MARK 7:21, 22).
MESSAGE:
When you hide sin in your heart, it will come out in the form of one sinful action or another, be it secret or open, but God sees it, and it will attract punishment.
Hence, Charles G. Finney said, “If you allow yourself in any sin secretly, without having any human being know it, know that God sees it, and that He has already written down your name, hypocrite.”
Nobody could have the knowledge and authority about a product more than the manufacturer. In the same way, God, the Omniscient and Creator of mankind, knows what is in a natural, unregenerate man – sin.

What goes into a man (food) goes out as excreta, while what comes out of a man comes from the heart. The heart of an unregenerate man is indeed sinful, as can be seen from our memory verse.
Do not hide sin, confess it. Salvation through Christ is the only remedy for heart defilement. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins. So, repent now and your sins will be blotted out.

CHALLENGE: Purge your heart from uncleanness.
PRAYER: Cleanse me from all defilements, oh Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
