TOPIC: WHO CAN BATTLE WITH GOD?
TEXT: ACTS 5:33-39
33When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
34Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
35And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
36For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
37After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
38And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

MESSAGE:
God is the Almighty, the Creator of the whole universe. He is the Man of Battle, no one can fight and win a battle against God. It is stupidity to attempt a fight against God. Nobody can also win a battle against the children of God.
It will be a waste of time and energy for anyone to try to stop God’s project or programme. The religious rulers fought against the early church and sought to stop the spread of the gospel. God used a man among them named Gamaliel to make them see the reason why they could not succeed in fighting against God.

How does someone fight with God today? When a sinner fights against the preaching of the gospel and refuses to accept the Son of God, sent to die for the sin of the whole world, that person is simply fighting against God.
Anybody that refuses to surrender to the will and plans of God for his life is rebelling against God. Every attack against ministers of the gospel or God’s children and the word of God is a direct fight against God.
Have you been fighting against God? Now is the time to repent because it is a hard and dangerous way to follow. It is like kicking against a stone. Sinners should surrender their lives to Jesus and believers should always seek to do God’s will all the time.
Prayer: Help me O Lord, to always surrender my life to Your will and plans, and never to be in the camp of those fighting against Your will.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)

3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
