Topic: Who Is Your Role Model? – Part 1
Bible Reading: Philippians 3:17-20 (KJV)
17Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
19Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
MEMORY VERSE: “Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.” Philippians 3:17
Message
No, never; she is not my role model”. Mary responded to a comment made by Kenny, her classmate, who had said that a popular music artist who dressed almost naked was the role model of all the girls in the class. Role models are the people we admire and look up to. They can be our peers, friends, teachers, pastors, celebrities, etc.
Samuel did not make the ungodly children of Eli his example, though they lived together. Moses chose rather to obey and follow God rather than to make Pharaoh who was popular and who he lived with his role model. Sadly, the association of Amnon, the son of king David, with Jonadab a crafty man, led to his destruction. Jonadab’s influence and advice led Amnon to defile Tamar, his half-sister. Remember, evil communication and association corrupt good manners and the future.
Choices of role models have an effect on our mind, values, and future. So, just like Mary in the story, you must be wise and carefully choose as role models, only those whose values, character, and life are godly.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Dear Father, help me to be wise and only make godly people my role models.

Proverbs 13:20
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
