DCLM Daily Manna 21 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Wisdom In Diligent Labour

TOPIC: Wisdom In Diligent Labour (DCLM Daily Manna 21 April 2026)

KEY VERSE: He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding – Proverbs 12:11

TEXT: Proverbs 12:8-13 (KJV)

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

‘No food for the lazy man’ is an age-old adage still relevant today. Laziness is a mental state of human choice. No one is born lazy. Indeed, the human brain is a gift from God to everyone, helping them to function fully. The brainstem does everything you need to live, like breathing, pumping blood, sleeping and waking up. The diligent man wakes up and tills his land while the lazy one wilfully sleeps on. Today’s text extols hard work. Since Israel’s economy at this time was primarily focused on the fields for the production of crops and livestock, the author encourages all to rise and work in the fields. Those who failed to work are said to be ‘void of understanding’.

Beyond the alarm clocks now available to help us wake up from sleep at the set time, the cerebellum helps everyone jump, walk, play, and pick up things. It controls all human movements and balance. Again, it depends on one to choose to walk and the other to sit down and do nothing. The limbic system is where human emotions live. Memories also live in the limbic system. Those who employ their emotions positively build for themselves positive, proactive and progressive attitudes that activate success vibes within their mental makeup. Those who are redundant in their attitudes to life refuse to activate their positive emotions and instead accentuate negative, self-entitled, and selfish feelings about themselves. These trains of emotions ruin their capacity to achieve success. They rob themselves of God’s innate gift for them to live a prosperous life.

There is a spiritual poem for the sluggard:

“How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard?
When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep:
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth,
And thy want as an armed man.”

We must wake up and work while trusting God to bless us abundantly according to His promise.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
In the dance of effort and reward, laziness misses every step.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
