TOPIC: You Are Not Alone (DCLM Daily Manna 15 July 2023)

KEY VERSE: “Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes” (Jeremiah 29:21).

TEXT: Jeremiah 29:20-23 (KJV)

20 Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:

21 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;

22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the Lord.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

When a genuine messenger of God finds himself in an island surrounded by false teachers and agents of the devil, he must be guided by the Holy Spirit to search the Scriptures for corresponding instances in previous dispensations where God stepped in to assert His authority. As he is so led, he will hear from the Lord and be comforted that he is not, after all, without support from heaven.

While the children of Israel were in captivity and were receiving messages from Prophet Jeremiah, as directed by God, two men, Ahab and Zedekiah, were issuing contradictory statements that deceived them about the future. They claimed to speak in the name of the Lord. In addition, they were given to vile behaviours like adultery. Although they outnumbered Jeremiah, God would prove that one with Him is indeed the winning majority, by slaying them in judgment.

The preacher of holiness and righteousness may appear overwhelmed as a lone voice in the wilderness of sin, unbelief and universal apostasy, but he should resist the call to join the multitude to do evil. He should remember that the broad way takes in the crowd of those who reject the truth and accept error. Awaiting these deceivers in the end is doom and damnation, except they repent.

The presenters of the ungarnished truth of the word must count themselves the salt of the world whose presence is required by heaven to deliver humanity from their unsavoury existence. Just as only a small quantity of salt makes a marked difference in the culinary process, so has the Lord also earmarked the evangelism work of a few committed followers of Christ to transform the larger society of unsaved souls.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
