Topic: You Have A Visitor

Bible ReadingPsalm 17:1-5 (KJV)

1(A Prayer of David.) Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

KEY VERSE: “Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.” Psalm 17:3

Message

“Stella, take this filthy rag away from the living room. This is not the type of thing a visitor should see; and we are always receiving visitors.” warned Stella’s mom. Yes, there are things we do not, ordinarily, allow people to see around our homes when they visit. Though it is possible to hide filthiness or dirt from the human visitor, however it is impossible to hide transgressions or sins from the Divine Visitor. He comes visiting all the time even without being invited.

The Psalmist says something very challenging: “Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.” When God visits, He always looks into our hearts. The Psalmist knows that God sees him everywhere and every time, even in the night. The things people do in the day are often planned in the night. When we rise up in the morning with hearts that God has tried and cleansed in the night then our mouth will speak good things. It is a child that has a clean heart that speaks righteous word and lives godly life.

Whenever God comes visiting, and He always does, what does He meet you thinking about and doing? Does God always find nothing in your thoughts and actions that make Him unhappy? You must purpose in your heart like the Psalmist, that from today, God helping you; you will keep yourself free from evil wherever you go.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

I fear Your watching eyes, Lord, help me to keep myself free from all sins.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
