TEXT: Numbers 14:1-10,20,28 (KJV)
Numbers 14:1-10
14 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
3 And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
9 Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.
10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.
Numbers 14:20
20 And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word:
Numbers 14:28

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
Someone once said that fear is the darkroom where negatives are developed. Worry and anxiety are two grave-diggers. They dig your grave while you are still alive. They wish you go alive into the grave and write ‘Rest in Peace’ as its epitaph. Another person said, “Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your values, your values become your destiny”.

In Numbers chapter 13, twelve spies were sent to search the land of Canaan. They saw the fertile land and brought home evidence of its fruitfulness. Instead of encouraging the people to go ahead and possess the land, they created fear in the heart of the congregation of Israel. In despondency, the children of Israel wept and declared that it would have been better if they had all died in the wilderness. In contrast, Joshua and Caleb reassured the people that they were well able to conquer and possess the land. But their encouragement fell on deaf ears.

The confessions of the spies revealed the state of their heart; the one ruled by fear, the other by faith. Christ said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34). In the end, only Joshua and Caleb got to Canaan.
There are other instances in the Bible where the spoken word determined the fate of individuals (Psalm 118:17; 2 Kings 4:26). David was victorious while the Shunammite woman received her dead son back to life. Miriam became leprous for murmuring against Moses. Ananias and Sapphira died suddenly for lying to the Holy Ghost. Michal, the wife of David, had no child for despising the anointed of God. As we ponder on all these examples, we must pray like David in Psalm 141:3: “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth…”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
People often jump into trouble mouth-first!

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
