TOPIC: ZERO TO HERO

TEXT: 1 CHRONICLES 4:9-10

9And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

MEMORY VERSE: “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast…And God granted him that which he requested” (1 CHRONICLES 4:10).

MESSAGE:

“What you believe in is the force that determines what you accomplish or fail to accomplish in life,” says John L. Mason.

God has placed potentials for excellence in everyone. Jabez knew this, but he needed a divine touch to push him out of poverty to prosperity, and he got it.

Dr. Ben Carson, in his school days, performed so poorly that his grade-school classmates considered him ‘stupid’. His harsh family background pointed to failure in life, but that was not to be. Ben realised that he had potentials; he studied hard and became the greatest pediatric neurosurgeon not only in America but the world over. You too can excel!

Dear friend, are you struggling with academic challenges? Like Ben Carson and Jabez in our text, you can rise from your zero level to become a hero. All you need to do is to call upon God and unleash the potentials He has deposited in you. He will change your situation. Wake up the sleeping giant inside you. Work hard, pray to God in faith and success is sure.

QUOTE: Work hard and pray to God in faith.

CHALLENGE: Wake up the sleeping giant within you and become a hero.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to overcome every power hindering my success.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
