DCLM Higher Everyday 23 July 2023 — The Christian Character

DCLM Higher Everyday  23 July 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Christian Character

Topic: The Christian Character.

Text: Galatians 5:22-26

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Key Verse: “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25).

Message

Someone described character as, “The mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.” A tree is known by its fruits; so, a Christian is known by the quality of character he displays. As lights of the world, we are to raise up a standard for the people around us to follow by the way we conduct ourselves on daily basis wherever we are found, be it at school, place of work, or at home. It’s a pity in the modern days that some Christians drag the name of the Lord in the mud by indecent conduct. As a result, their lives are repulsive and not living testimonies of the expected vibrant Christian life. Jesus says in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

As a Christian who wants to be a living witness to the grace of God in this generation, live a holy life of integrity for people to see and be attracted to the Lord.

Quote: A tree is known by its fruits.

Challenge: Let others see Jesus in you.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to be a beacon of light in this world.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
