DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
A story is told of a selfish person who inherited a rice field in India. In the first season the irrigation water covered his property, making it very fruitful, and it also overflowed on to his neighbours’ fields, bringing a great harvest to them as well. The next season he decided that he was too generous in sharing his wealth by letting this water escape to others so he stopped the water with a specially made dam. However, in doing so he spoiled his own crop. The irrigation water brought blessing when it flowed, but when it became stagnant, it turned the field into an unfruitful marsh – (Source: Unknown).

It is a fact that whatever you do not want to do can be conveniently excused. It is not that those things are difficult to do, or that you do not understand why you should do them, but that you have no desire to do them. In no other area is this attitude more pronounced than in showing hospitality to other people. And yet, this is one of the clearest ways to express your Christian character and conduct. The passage begins with a simple and compelling charge to believers: “Let brotherly love continue”. Love is the bedrock of the Christian faith. It is God’s love for mankind that compelled Him to send Jesus Christ, His Son, to the world, to die for the sin of humanity.

Those who have experienced this love of God cannot forget to love others, and entertain strangers, recognising that it was at such instances that some have cared for angels unawares. But showing hospitality does not begin and end with people that come to us, we must care for those who are locked away in prison, and those facing hardship, especially people suffering for their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We must be ready to always demonstrate acts of kindness and sympathy. This is practical Christianity in action!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Our deeds of kindness attract divine acts of kindness.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
