TOPIC: Day Of Feasting And Plotting (DCLM Daily Manna 28 June 2026)

KEY VERSE: In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus – Esther 2:21

TEXT: Esther 2:21-23 (KJV)

21 In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.

22 And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.

23 And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Abraham Lincoln, America’s 16th president, had just won a great victory in the nation’s civil war that preserved their union, ended slavery and created the possibility of social freedom for African Americans when he was assassinated on the evening of April 14, 1865. He was attending a special performance of the comedy, “Our American Cousin.” Lincoln was shot when the play was in progress by actor John Wilkes, who stepped into the presidential box with a pistol. The president slumped forward and died nine hours later at a boarding house opposite the theatre.

King Ahasuerus would have met a similar fate if not for the timely intervention of Mordecai, who worked at the palace gate. The king was hosting a great feast following Esther’s coronation as the nation’s new queen, with a guest list that included all the princes and governors of the provinces. Mordecai received information about a plot to assassinate the king by two of his chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh. He immediately signalled the queen, and soon the king was informed. The two plotters were tried and executed after their plot was confirmed, and they were found guilty.

There are important parts here worthy of consideration. Mordecai stood at the gate in righteousness. He would not overlook evil in his vintage position. As believers today, we find ourselves manning important gates at our workplaces and in society. In your position, you are expected to report any act of corruption, cheating, or mismanagement to the authorities without compromise. Our societies would be better today if believers could be true to their calling, whether as leaders in government or the private sector.

Believers should understand that time is short and that our prime assignment on earth is to sound the alarm and warn the sinning world with the gospel. Like Mordecai, we must explain to the unsaved the danger they face and patiently lead them to Christ.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Withholding the gospel message from the unsaved amounts to disservice.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
