DCLM Higher Everyday 19 July 2025 — Moses Foretells The Messiah
DCLM Higher Everyday 19 July 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Moses Foretells The Messiah
Topic: Moses Foretells The Messiah
Text: Deuteronomy 18: 16-19
16According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
17And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
Key Verse: “I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him” (Deuteronomy 18:18).
Message
Prophets of God generally predict things that must surely come to pass. Seeing into the future, they speak in the name of the Lord. The Bible says, “… when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him” (Jeremiah 28:9). Moses predicted that the Messiah (the Prophet) was to be a man, a Jew who would declare the word of God unto them.

The prophecy was fulfilled in Christ. Christ alone was like unto Moses as a Prophet. Christ was like unto Moses in respect to His office of mediation between God and man, in faithfulness, in signs and wonders and as a lawgiver. Christ alone resembles Moses but infinitely greater. Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords. In all available records of universal history, none was like to Moses as Christ was. Phillip exclaimed, “we found Him of whom Moses in the law and the prophets did write to be Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God.” Follow Christ and not a social media idol.
Quote: Christ alone was like unto Moses
Challenge: God the Father said, “Hear ye him”
Prayer for today: Help me to obey Christ in all things, Oh God.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
