DCLM DAILY MANNA 30 MARCH 2021 – OUR LETHAL WEAPON
TOPIC: Our Lethal Weapon (DCLM Daily Manna 30 March 2021)
TEXT: HEBREWS 11:32-40
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
KEY VERSE: “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions” (HEBREWS 11:33).
MESSAGE:
Over the ages, man has developed and used different types of weapons to fight wars with varying potencies and consequences. Early men fought with spears, swords, axes, daggers, clubs or maces. Later, more lethal weapons were invented including the nuclear arms. As powerful as these weapons are, the greatest is the spiritual weapon of faith.

Our text depicts the exploits and the victories of men and women of faith. The challenges and battles were formidable, yet God gave them overwhelming victories. Joshua subdued kingdoms. Gideon had great power in battle. Samson was anointed with the Holy Spirit and had never used any other arms than the implements of husbandry, yet he went into battle with a formidable and more experienced nation. Barak was inferior to his enemies but was guided only by the counsel of a woman. Daniel came forth safe and untouched from the lions’ den. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego walked in a burning furnace as cheerfully as on a pleasant meadow. Deborah won battles. A widow’s son was brought back to life by Elijah, the prophet.
These saints of old followed the guidance of God and activated His promises; they undertook great tasks and were honoured by Him. We too can experience exploits and victories through faith in Christ. Yes, irrespective of our unique circumstances in life, we too can have similar experiences.
Beyond the victories and exploits in physical circumstances, believers are guaranteed the real victory which God has promised. He will not desert His people. He has promised never to leave us. Therefore, we ought to trust and rest in His power and promises.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Faith is more powerful than any human weapon!

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
