DCLM Sincere Milk 23 April 2026 — First Position Always

DCLM Sincere Milk  23 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — First Position Always

Topic: First Position Always

Bible Reading: Matthew 19:27-30 (KJV)

27Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

28And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

30But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

MEMORY VERSE: “But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.”Matthew 19:30

Message

Duron was a very brilliant boy. His class teacher nicked named him, “No 1.” He has also represented his school in many quiz competitions. He was very hardworking, determined and humble. All other students prayed to be like him. Painfully and gradually, Duron began to drop back. He became very playful, careless and thoughtless. The class teacher cried out and invited Duron’s parents to school to suggest what can be done to help Duron, yet, Duron continued to drift.

It was the case of the first becoming the last. In your class, the first position is always reserved for one person; the one who scores the highest mark. To take the first position however, you must determine to work hard, deny yourself of too much play and sleep. Unfortunately, not many who made first position in one class are able to keep it up in the next class. Similarly, some children who loved Jesus and served Him with their whole hearts before are no more loving Him like in time past.

The Lord frowns at that in our Bible passage. The good thing is that the first should not become the last. Jesus tells us that as many that had chosen to serve Him faithfully from the beginning to the end, shall be first to enter the kingdom of God. Keep on loving Jesus. Let your love for Him be increasing with each new day. Love and obey Him today more than you did yesterday. Serve Him now that you are a child and continue to love Him in your old age until you leave this world to live with Him in heaven.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, help me to serve You faithfully and never draw back from following You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
