DCLM Higher Everyday  2 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Knowing God’S Will

Topic: Knowing God’S Will

Bible Reading: Colossians 1:9-11 (KJV)

9For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

MEMORY VERSE: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye” (Psalm 32:8).

Message

Teenagers are often faced with decisions that can impact their lives significantly. In the midst of uncertainty, it is essential to seek God’s will. But how do you know what God wants you to do? Oswald J. Smith says, “Oh, beloved, faint not when doors are shut. For if you are in God’s will, He will Himself unlock the bars and let you in, or else He will keep the doors closed and later lead you in another direction. Pray and wait.”

Beloved, the Bible provides clear guidance on this matter. It begins with genuine salvation experience. In Romans 12:2, we are encouraged to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” so that we can discern God’s perfect will. This means spending time in prayer, reading God’s Word, and seeking wise counsels from godly and trusted adults. You need to ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will as Apostle Paul prayed for the Colossian believers. This is a prayer you can pray daily, asking God to reveal His plans for your life. He will answer.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Holy Father, keep me in your will always, in Jesus’ name.

CHALLENGE

God’s will is the best.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
