DCLM Higher Everyday  4 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Knowledge: A Virtue To Seek

Topic: Knowledge: A Virtue To Seek

Bible Reading: Exodus 35:30-35 (KJV)

30And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the LORD hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;

31And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;

32And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,

33And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.

34And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.

35Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.

MEMORY VERSE: “And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship” (Exodus 35:31).

Message

Knowledge is a divine gift that empowers individuals to fulfil their God-given assignments. In Exodus 35:30-35, God filled Bezaleel with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to build the tabernacle. This demonstrates that knowledge is not merely about acquiring information but about applying it in ways that honour and glorify God. Hence Shiv Khera in his book, You Can Win, states, “We hear every day that knowledge is power. Not really. Knowledge is information. It is potential power and it becomes power only when it is acted upon.” We see many inventions taking place in the world today because skilled and gifted people are seriously researching and using their knowledge to produce goods and services for the good of humanity. True knowledge originates from God, and when guided by His Spirit, it leads to creativity, excellence, and purposeful living. Friend, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7). This emphasises that knowledge detached from God lacks eternal value. Like Bezaleel, we must seek divine wisdom to use our knowledge effectively for God’s glory and the good of humanity

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
