DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
John Trapp, a 15th-century English writer and theologian, was spot-on when he wrote, “It is the nature of faith to believe God upon His bare word… It will not be, saith sense; it cannot be, saith reason; it both can be and will be, saith faith, for I have a promise for it.” This emphasises the close relationship between God’s word and faith. Faith produces results by acting on God’s promises. This truth was demonstrated at the wedding event at Cana in Galilee. The wedding must have involved people related to Mary, the mother of Jesus, going by her active participation and the presence of Jesus Christ and His disciples. During the ceremony, the organisers ran out of wine. Mary observed the dire situation and approached Jesus for possible intervention, even though Christ was not known to have performed any miracle previously. His retort, “Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come,” was not intended as a disrespect, but was a tender and affectionate expression hinting that He would do something, but at His own and appropriate time. Then followed what may be termed Mary’s Principle of Faith: “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it,” said Mary to the event’s stewards. When they obeyed, the result was the first public miracle of Christ.

This move of faith remains a major condition for securing divine interventions. If only we can learn to act, like Peter, “at thy word”, and observe whatsoever He says unto us, we will experience the manifestation of God’s power. By His presence and performance at this wedding, Christ also endorsed the institution of marriage. It can rightly be inferred that just as Christ provided wine (a symbol of joy) at a desperate hour, every family that has the presence of Christ will enjoy His blessedness and a good supply of joy.

Mary’s faith was borne out of a deep-seated conviction about the power of every word that proceeds from the Lord. However God’s demand may sound, “the foolishness of God is wiser than men.” Whatever else your feelings or experience indicate, faith always says it can be done, and draws down the miracle.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Divine precepts and promises need no question mark from us.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
