DCLM Sincere Milk  25 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Jesus, Our Good Shepherd

Topic: Jesus, Our Good Shepherd

Bible Reading: John 10:7-12 (KJV)

7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

12But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

KEY VERSE: “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” John 10:11

Message

Shepherds are livestock farmers who rear animals. These animals are very dear to the heart of the shepherd because of the economic benefits. The shepherds will always take the animals to where they can find enough food, water and safety. If one of the animals is lost, the shepherd will not rest until he finds the lost one. These characteristics of shepherds are what make the Lord to compare Himself with the shepherd.

Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and we are His sheep. Just like a shepherd care for and protects his sheep, Jesus cares for us. He leads us to places of safety and provides for our needs. When we are lost or in trouble, Jesus will always find us and guide us back to our safe haven.

A shepherd knows each of his sheep by name, and in the same way, Jesus knows each one of us personally. He loves you and will always lead you in the right path. You can trust Him to take care of you, even when you are scared or unsure.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Jesus, thank You for being my Shepherd. Help me to trust and follow You always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
