TOPIC: “Time For Praises” (DCLM Daily Manna 4 May 2024)

KEY VERSE: “Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD”(Psalm 150:6).

TEXT: Psalm 150:1-6 (KJV)

1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Thomas Watson said, “Praising God is one of the highest and purest acts of religion.” It is appropriate that the Bible’s great poetic collection, having God’s limitless power as its dominant theme, should end with a call to praise God. The Psalms reveal the promises of the loving Lord and how those who rest on His word in moments of need can, without fail, get divine help.

As the book closes, the writer of this musical composition says there should be an assembly of all known musical instruments to adore the God who is responsible for the joy resulting from the testimonies. The entire psalms cover different aspects. There are historical psalms that speak of national deliverances. Then there are those that give reassuring promises to the believer in the Lord. Still, there are messianic psalms that foreshadow the coming of Jesus Christ and His everlasting reign. For all these, the psalmist wants “every thing that hath breath [to] praise the LORD”.

Serving God is incomplete without a constant disposition to praise Him. Every day is a good time to hail Him as our Creator. We do not enjoy fulfilment until we express gladness in Him. He says, “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.” Not adoring Him at all times, therefore, amounts to the sin of disobedience.

Praising God is not conditioned by the sentiment of emotions or by external variables of the economy, changes in government etc. The Lord counsels the redeemed to give “thanks always for all things unto God…” This form of praise is most acceptable and pleasing to the Lord when it rises from a heart saved by grace and lips sanctified and consecrated to God.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Praises raise us to levels where we sense God more

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
