Bible Reading: Psalm 139:13-16 (KJV)
13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
KEY VERSE: I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Psalm 139:14).
Message
God made all creatures in such a complex and beautiful way that even the atheist is left in awe. The human anatomy and physiology in particular, are wonderful. The National Geographic Kids, also known as Natgeokids, an educational YouTube channel provided for young learners, reveals some facts about the human body. According to it, the mouth produces about one litre of saliva each day! Also, laid end to end, an adult’s blood vessels could circle Earth’s equator four times! Moreover, our bodies give off a tiny amount of light that’s too weak for the eye to see. Finally, scientists estimate that the nose can recognise a trillion different scents! This is great!
In our Bible text, the psalmist praises God for being wonderfully made. This should be a great lesson for us, considering the great work of God in us and let us praise Him. Think of His ingenious work and never allow anyone or anything to make you look down on yourself or on others. We are wonderfully made, with more than enough potentials to achieve our dreams.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, give me a grateful heart for making me.
CHALLENGE
It is a marvel: God’s creativity.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
