DCLM Higher Everyday 8 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — ARMED AGAINST ADVERSARIES

TOPIC: ARMED AGAINST ADVERSARIES (DCLM Higher Everyday 8 November 2021)

BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 21:12-19

12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.

14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

MEMORY VERSE: “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus” (ACTS 4:13).

MESSAGE:

Defence spending by countries (2020) shows that countries in the world spend more on arms and ammunition than on other sectors of the economy. The US topped the list with a whopping budget of $750,000,000,000. The aim of spending this huge amount of money on arms and ammunition is to enhance the security of the country against adversaries. The Lord has also promised security for soul winners who are soldiers of the cross fighting the foes of the Kingdom of God.

Our Bible text foretells the persecution that will befall believers before the coming of the Lord. Adversaries will persecute them because of their obedience to Christ and the Great Commission. This has increased in nations of the world. The fear of persecution should not silence you from sharing the gospel in your school and elsewhere. Jesus has assured us of divine empowerment and guidance of the Holy Spirit in time of persecution. God’s children must therefore seek for the Spirit’s empowerment for boldness and guidance for effective evangelism and protection in these last days.

QUOTE: Persecution should not silence you.

CHALLENGE: Have you been filled with His power?

PRAYER: Lord, fill me with the Holy Ghost power.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
