TOPIC: Faith That Works (DCLM Daily Manna 21 June 2026)

KEY VERSE: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God – Romans 10:17

TEXT: Romans 10:17-21 (KJV)

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

In 1896, Thomas Edison learnt that the young and aspiring Henry Ford, working in his company, had created an experimental car. Edison met young Henry at the company’s party and fired him up with the following words that generated faith in the heart of Ford to pursue his experiment: “Young man, that’s the thing! You have it! I think you are on to something! I encourage you to continue your pursuit.” That was the fuel of faith that fired the heart of Henry Ford and eventually helped him invent the car that made him famous and wealthy.

In today’s text, the Holy Spirit teaches us that saving faith comes by hearing and acting on God’s word. It is not enough to hear the Word, like the unbelieving Jews heard, without a corresponding obedient response. We must accompany our hearing of the Word with appropriate action. God’s word surpasses any other fuel to generate the faith that works in any dormant heart. Fill the empty tank of your heart daily with the fuel of God’s word, and nothing shall be impossible unto you. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

A definite way to cultivate the faith that works is by turning the words of Christ into songs and hymns and the psalms into songs. Sing these words and psalms gracefully until you own them. They will not only generate faith in your heart, but they will inspire faith in the hearts of those hearing you also.

We can become faith warriors and conquerors by deploying God’s word to quench Satan’s fiery darts of evil and unclean thoughts against our hearts. Like Paul and Silas in the dark dungeon of the Philippian jail, we can turn God’s words into prayers and praises, and the foundations of our prisons will begin to quake as all bondages are broken and all limitations overcome.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It takes faith and God’s word to produce a work of grace

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
