DCLM Higher Everyday 22 June 2026 — Perseverance In Trials

DCLM Higher Everyday  22 June 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Perseverance In Trials

Topic: Perseverance In Trials

Bible Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9 (KJV)

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

KEY VERSE: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:7).

Message

B.Simpson says, “Trials and hard places are needed to press us forward, even as the furnace fires in the hold of that mighty ship give force that moves the piston, drives the engine, and propels that great vessel across the sea in the face of the winds and waves.” Our trials should propel us to achievement and fulfilment of our ordained destinies. Trials are unpleasant experiences in life that test the faith of the Christian. They come in different forms, such as sicknesses, persecution, delayed answers to prayers, lack, and failure.

Friend, trials are meant to make us stronger in the faith, deeper in our understanding of God and provide a more holistic approach to our walk with God. Our Lord Jesus also suffered, leaving us an example to follow. In trials, rejoice and patiently endure. Be grateful that you are suffering like your Master, Jesus and the saints of old. A greater glory awaits you in heaven if you continue in the Lord till the end. That glory is incomparable with the trials we face here on earth.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, help me to keep trusting You even in my trials.

CHALLENGE

Never give up!

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
