Bible ReadingPsalm 17:1-5 (KJV)

KEY VERSE: “I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.” Psalm 118:5

Message

The driver had to abandon the school bus out of fear of being hit by stray bullets. The students dashed everywhere for safety. There was armed robbery in the nearby bank. Bobby decided it might be advisable to run home since his house was close by, but wondered if the mother was at home and would answer him on time. As he screamed and banged on the door, his mother who heard the gunshots and observed it was the time children close from School, quickly, flung the door open and pulled Bobby in. Bobby was saved from fear and danger. The Psalmist said he was in distress. Time of distress, danger and fear comes in the life of everyone; adult or a child. But we can only be saved if we know who or where to run to for help. The Psalmist called, trusted and prayed to the Lord and He answered and set him in a large place – a place of safety and plenty.

In your times of danger, pain or difficulty, trust in the Lord and He will help you. More than Bobby’s mother, the Lord is always on the watch to deliver His children from evil. Today, or anytime you find yourself in distress – grief or suffering, do not just look up to men for help, but call upon the Lord, He is your fortress, and He will save you.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, when I call on You, answer me and deliver me from all my fears and trouble.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
