DCLM Higher Everyday 24 October 2026 — True Freedom

DCLM Higher Everyday  24 October 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — True Freedom

Topic: True Freedom

Bible Reading: Romans 6:14-22 (KJV)

14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

19I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

20For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

KEY VERSE: “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life” (Romans 6:22).

Message

Many young people see freedom as the ability to do whatever they want, but true freedom comes from Christ. Before salvation, sin enslaved individuals, leading to guilt, shame, and destruction. However, when one surrenders one’s life to Jesus, one is set free from sin and empowered to live a righteous life. “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14). A young boy once struggled with various addictions, believing they would bring him happiness.

His life was full of sorrow and bondage. One day, he surrendered to Christ and was delivered. He found peace, joy, and purpose – things he had never experienced while in sin. “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness” (Romans 6:16)? Dearly beloved, true freedom is not lawlessness but living in obedience to God, which brings holiness and eternal life. If you are not free from sin, surrender your life to Jesus today.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord Jesus, set me free from sin. Amen.

CHALLENGE

Come to Jesus and receive true freedom.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
