DCLM Higher Everyday 5 November 2026 — When It Seems, God Is Late
Topic: When It Seems, God Is Late
Bible Reading: John 11:17-27 (KJV)
17Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
KEY VERSE: “Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again” (John 11:23).
Message
There is time for everything, says the preacher! God can never be late in attending to any issue in the lives of His children. At the appointed time, He gave Isaac to Abraham, Samuel to Hannah, healed the man who had been infirmed for thirty-eight years, healed the man at the Beautiful Gate, and saved the injurious Saul of Tarsus, who later became known as Paul, the apostle. Delay, as it is said, is not a denial. God remains the ever present one in trouble. Indeed, God will make all things beautiful for you at His own time.
In John 11:5, we were told that Jesus loved Martha, Mary and Lazarus because they had a redemptive relationship with Him. You need to be saved if you want Christ’s intervention in your life and circumstances. By human evaluation, Jesus Christ was four days late, but by God’s record, He arrived at the right time, so that all glory will be God’s. Therefore, whatever the situation in your life, trust God and He will attend to it at the appointed time.
Lord Jesus, take away all my troubles.
Work with God’s appointed time.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
