DCLM Higher Everyday 1 June 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Now Ask In Faith

Topic: Now Ask In Faith

Text : John 14:12-14

12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Key Verse: “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14).

Message

The life of a believer, especially a young one, is often characterized by disappointment, discouragement, setback and anxiety.  However, George Mueller says, “The beginning of anxiety is the bend of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.” We often feel bad and sorrowful when our expectations are not met. Sometimes we think no one cares about our worries and feelings. However, in our Bible text today, Jesus assures, “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.”

Friend, what are your fears, hopes and aspirations? When you believe in Christ, you will be able to exercise your faith in God and present your needs to Him with the expectation that He will answer you. This belief gives you confidence and assurance in God. Indeed, you are not a believer in God until you put your trust and confidence in His word, wisdom, love, promises and past miracles. Make sure you act now and take Him at His word; surely you will have testimonies to tell.

Quote: He will answer you

Challenge: Faith is now!

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, let my faith stand at all times, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
